Industrial Safety

Many commercial and industrial companies have buildings, work areas, equipment cells, or even heavy equipment and vehicles that must only be accessed by authorized personnel. Physical locking schemes are fallible and provide no traceability. End users need a workable way to grant and track safe employee access.

Consider a robot work cell, or a part of a machine which is guarded. This equipment will certainly have dedicated safety switches, controllers, or other devices. By integrating KW2D smart readers with guard locking solenoids, designers can ensure that the doors to these areas may only be opened when the condition is safe and a permitted employee uses their tag. These tags can be incorporated into maintenance procedures to confirm personnel are working in the right areas, enhancing safety.

All employee actions associated with RFID tags can be tracked and logged. This means that workers who inspect parts or initiate machine functions are providing a constant stream of data, far more accurate and easier to use than manually generated and inefficient paper logs. This activity can be stored in a database and retrieved as needed to generate reports. It can also be analyzed so users can develop safer and more efficient work practices.
