Replace touch panels in existing facilities with tablets

Replace the touch panel used for equipment control with a commercially available tablet + safety commander™

I want to use the tablet for control as well

Tablets are already being used at many manufacturing sites for process control and report writing.

You probably want to use your tablet in a wider variety of situations.

However, "safety" and "robustness" are important for safe use in the field, and many companies are troubled by how to deal with this safety issue.

Safety Commander™ makes it easy to add safety devices

From the perspective of ISO/IEC safety standards, when operating equipment, including tablets, is used near a machine's hazardous source, it is required to be equipped with safety devices such as emergency stop pushbutton switches and enabling switches so that the machine can be stopped immediately.

The Safety Commander overcomes this requirement. Safety functions such as "emergency stop switches" and "enable switches" can be easily installed by simply attaching them to commercially available tablets. HT4P can also be equipped with mechanical switches. It can also be used when mechanical switches are required for operation, stopping, mode switching, etc. The rugged IP54 dustproof and waterproof construction (*1) and drop resistance of 1.2 m (*2) enable use in harsh environments. These features will provide an opportunity to expand the possibilities in the field.

Cost savings, improved functionality, and availability benefits as well

The HT4P type can be mounted with tablets up to 13 inches. Large industrial touch panels currently used in manufacturing are very expensive and difficult to obtain.

In comparison, commercial tablets are inexpensive, expressive, feature-rich, and readily available. If a touch panel or PC from existing equipment is used in conjunction with the Tablet + Safety Commander, existing software can be diverted using the web browser or remote desktop functionality. Also, the machine can be operated close to the machine, eliminating the need for multiple operators to talk to each other, thereby reducing the number of man-hours required.

Stable communication via wired LAN

There are cases where tablets are already in use in the company, but company regulations prohibit the use of wireless LAN for other purposes such as machine control. The HT4P model is equipped with a USB/LAN converter that enables communication with the device via wired LAN, making it possible to use the device in environments where wireless LAN is not available.

*(1) Safety commander main unit only. Except for tablets.
*(2) The tablet weight of up to 1.1 kg was confirmed in an independent drop test. However, the shock resistance performance of this product does not guarantee non-destructive or fault-free operation.
